This is a white wine with personality, which resolutely defends its characteristics against the perils of time, allowing it to maintain the highest quality for several seasons.
Straw-yellow with greenish highlights, it has an ample nose, with an intense bouquet featuring flowers, vanilla, lemon, lily of the valley and bitter apples. Its nicely
dry taste is full, well-balanced and elegant.
Considered to be one of the greatest Piedmontese white wines, Gavi di Gavi represents the essence of the Cortese grape, cultivated in the Monferrato area, on the border with Liguria. Here, the winds that blow in from the sea enable the creation of a wine that is always crisp, with pleasant, almost salty, mineral notes, perfect for aperitifs or to pair with fish.

NEDERBURG CHARDONNAY
KES1,520The Chardonnay grapes were sourced from top-performing vineyards in Darling and Stellenbosch. These are known as cool climate winegrowing areas, offering the benefit of slower ripening of the grapes to achieve greater flavour intensity. The vines are grown in granite and sandstone soils, resulting in grapes with higher natural acidity, adding to the vibrancy, freshness and longevity of the wine. The vines, ranging in age from 12 to 17 years, and situated on mostly south to south-westerly facing slopes, received supplementary drip irrigation. Grafted onto phylloxera-resistant rootstocks, Richter 99 and 101, the vines yielded an average of 8 to 10 tons per hectare. The Albariño grapes came from Stellenbosch, the Chenin blanc from Swartland, and the Gewürztraminer from Paarl.

This wine has a modern style which offers varietal complexity and good body and finesse. It is a wine to enjoy fairly young, but laying down for a few years will bring it additional complexity and interest which is sure to surprise you.
With the 2018 vintage Finca Montico became one of a collection of 100% organic wines from Marqu?s de Riscal, from our ecological bodega in the D.O. Rueda, as part of our commitment to make our wines with the minimum possible intervention.
