DURBANVILLE HILLS MERLOT
Medium to full-bodied wine with sweet fruits on palate, rounded off with silky tannins and a full mouth feel that has a prolonged after taste.
Nine leading vineyard owners in the Durbanville district joined forces with Distell to create Durbanville Hills with the aim of promoting the regional individuality of this prime wine-growing area. The striking Durbanville Hills cellar sits on the side of a series of rolling hills with magnificent views of Table Mountain and Table Bay – the very geography that lies at the heart of what makes the wines so unique.
Inspired by Cape Town’s radiant energy and creative demeanour, our new premium offering – The Collector’s Reserve – is a unique range specially crafted by our winemakers using only the finest grapes from Cape Town’s best vineyards.
The cheery red and white candy-striped lighthouse in Green Point with its foghorn, affectionately known as “Moaning Minnie”, is well-known for guiding ships along the misty Cape coast. These misty, cool climate conditions develop the Merlot’s unique character, displaying notes of mint and red cherry.
Red Sea is the flagship of the Formentera range of wines.
Made from the finest tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, it is a well rounded, sweet wine that has hints of strawberry, plum and vanilla aromas, which are even stronger on the palatte.
It pairs well with goat, lamb and beef. The sweet fruity nature of this wine can also add a burst of flavour to white meats too.
This wine has been made using tempranillo and graciano grapes from an old vineyard cultivated inside the Finca de Torrea estate – from Elciego, where the Marque’s de Riscal City of Wine is located.
Finca Torrea is a modern-style wine with a very up-to-date profile, more fruit and less herby in character and aged for a shorter time both in the cask and in the bottle. It is a different style to the wines that Marque’s de Riscal have traditionally made, not only due to its modern character, but also for the image of its label showing the map of the vineyard plots of the Finca de Torrea, inspired by the line of design marked by the architect Frank O.Gehry with the Hotel Marque’s de Riscal.
It is an elegant, fresh wine, easy to drink yet with a certain air of gravity, which really shows the quality of our Elciego vineyards.
This medium bodied wine evokes a sweet sensation on the palate with hints of dark cherries and plums. It is well balanced with silky tannins and lingering flavors of sweet wood spice.
