Wine grown on a sea bed?

Well, kind of! How about a 150 Million year old Sea Bed.

Chablis is the northern most part of Burgundy in France and yes you guessed it – White wine from here is called Chablis.

The wine is 100% Chardonnay grapes – no other grape is allowed.

The soil here is very chalky and literally full of fossils. See image below:

These wines tend to be Fresher, Citrusy with white slower aromas.

Now just imaging sipping these wines in the hot Kenyan afternoon with nothing but the sound of birds – we have to thank those little sea creatures who existed 150 million years.
