The Château Clarke estate is in the southern part of the Médoc within the Listrac-Médoc appellation. Its inland location is far from the Gironde estuary in the middle of the limestone plateau. The property has a private, protected setting.
A distinctive feature of the estate’s clay-limestone soil is its remarkable drought resistance. The nearness of the Atlantic Ocean gives it a cool freshness that is echoed in the wine’s bright bouquet. The terroir is very well suited to growing merlot grapes in a region where cabernet sauvignon is traditionally king. Thus Château Clarke is typical of the Médoc, but in an entirely original way.

FINCA TORREA RIOJA
KES6,720This wine has been made using tempranillo and graciano grapes from an old vineyard cultivated inside the Finca de Torrea estate – from Elciego, where the Marque’s de Riscal City of Wine is located.
Finca Torrea is a modern-style wine with a very up-to-date profile, more fruit and less herby in character and aged for a shorter time both in the cask and in the bottle. It is a different style to the wines that Marque’s de Riscal have traditionally made, not only due to its modern character, but also for the image of its label showing the map of the vineyard plots of the Finca de Torrea, inspired by the line of design marked by the architect Frank O.Gehry with the Hotel Marque’s de Riscal.
It is an elegant, fresh wine, easy to drink yet with a certain air of gravity, which really shows the quality of our Elciego vineyards.

NEDERBURG EDELROOD
KES1,680The grapes were sourced from top-performing vineyards situated in the Darling and Cape Town districts, both cool climate winegrowing areas with the benefit of slower ripening of the grapes to achieve greater flavour intensity. The vines are grown in granite soils with good water-holding capacity, resulting in grapes with a higher natural acidity, adding to the freshness and longevity of the wine. Open vineyard canopies bring about greater sunlight penetration of the grape bunches, contributing to a well-balanced acidity, in turn contributing to better tannin structure and fruit expression as well as deeper colour intensity.

Bouquet Attractive aromas of rich cherry and berry fruits with subtle fennel, liquorice and cigar box.
Palate Black cherry and ample hedgerow fruits that vie with tobacco leaf, cigar box and cedar adding a savoury nuance, along with spice highlights. Rich, smooth, supple and elegantly poised.
